  • New twist to an old song

This morning our (English) church joined our (Spanish) sister church for a special Thanksgiving service. We do a joint service about twice a year, and it's always a fun time of worshiping in both languages and sharing testimonies of what God is doing in our lives. It's especially enjoyable for me because I absolutely love Spanish worship music; it touches my heart like nothing else does.

One of the songs we sang this morning was an old favorite--"I Will Enter His Gates"--that we sing in both languages. In English, the chorus says, "He has made me glad....I will rejoice for He has made me glad." However, the Spanish words have a little different twist: "Si, me gozare....Pues El ha puesto su gozo en mi (Yes, I will rejoice....For He has put His joy in me)." How beautiful! I can rejoice because God's joy is in me. This joy does not spring from me, my good attitude, or my circumstances; instead, the Lord has placed joy in me and I can take hold of it. And because it's God's joy, it is bigger than me or anything around me. What an incredible gift!
